Dear all,

First project grades are available in the grades section.
Minus points are due to delays, copying each other codes, or copying over the net, but I don't take it into account for those with grades below 50.

Dear all,

I have just updated the specifcation of the second programming assignment. It contains a sample input file -- as some of you had requested.

Good Luck,

Dear all,

For the sake of ease in the second programming assignment, you can assume that the grammar is in the Chamsky normal form. Not assuming so will then have boost marks. Many thanks to Arash Ganjoo Haghighi who reminded me about that.

TTFN,
--Hossein

Dear all,

The specification of the second programming assignment is just uploaded. In presence of any question, please ask that in the mailing list, or we will not consider it unless it is highly personal.

Good Luck,

Dear all,

A TA of this course has just informed me that there are a lot of copies made in the second set of hand-ins. I hope you all have convinced yourself that you've completely understood what you copy -- which is completely OK to me because the aim of each assignment is to help the students UNDERSTAND the material, full stop!

However, if this is not the case, there is a clear and precise argument here which makes me sure that not spotting copies is the correct peice of job. Read on, and let me know if you still have anything to add: (Please post your comments not to me. Post them to Discussion Area.)

If the persons who've spent a whole day have no objection on the ones who copy from them, and they are completely OK with their marks getting even worse than or equal to the copiers, then there is nothing to worry about. And, if the sources have any kind of objections, it is they themselves who should stop letting the others to copy their works. In either case, we've got nothing to do here!

All of the Best,
--Hossein

Dear all,

First project dealine finalized!! Check the assignment section.
It seems the best time to not coincide with any other deadline or postponed version of it.
It is not that hard to take you much time to do, Try it!!

Dear all,

I am sorry that I should announce here that -- because NOBODY has so far attended the Tuseday TA sessions -- this session is cancelled for ever! :(

Best,
--Hossein

P.S. Note my dear friends that we will not cancel any of our services unless you verify that you don't use it. And the sad point is that some services neither get used, nor requested for improvement...

Dear all,

Today's (Wed's) TA Session is just cancelled because of its excess of enthusiastic students! Note that this doesn't mean that there won't be such a session for next week either.

TTFN,

  1385-01-19 April 08, 2006 01:28 PM
Dear students,

Happy new year! :) I wish the best to you and yours.

In response to your excess of request for deferring the deadlines etc etc, we (the TA's) did our best to help. This is our decisions:

1) Deadlines won't be defererred! Nevertheless, we will accept late delivery until WEDNESDAY (23 Farvadin) 13:00, BUT NO LATER. Note that delays will definitely be penalised. Please don't worry about the amount of penalties however.

2) All the hand-ins should be delivered in electronic versions. If you've got problems in typing them, use scan. (A free scanner is always available at the help-desk of computer cluster, Department of Mathematical Sciences.)

3) Typing the hand-ins in FarsiTeX would have extra marks. Typing them in anything else would be benefitial as well, but with less marks. Note that this can cancel the penalties according to delay.

4) The number of problems/excercises won't be lessened.

Good Luck,
--Hossein

  1385-01-15 April 04, 2006 06:50 PM
Dear all,

On the comming Monday, the TA in charge of the group will have a session at the respective place. In this session, he will solve some non-compulsary problems for you. Note that this will happen ONLY IF the number of attenders is more than a certain minimum.

All of the Best,
--Hossein

  1384-12-22 March 13, 2006 11:43 PM
Dear all,

Another TA of this course told me that there are some students who want having a TA course before the beginning of new year. And, I am very happy of hearing that.

Therefore, although we had previously arranged not to have any (extra) sessions before we can estimate the number of people who are really enthusiastic, and our criteria was arranged to be the number of people who attend the TA sessions in which we solve the handouts, I admit that "in case there are enough enthusiast students for sessions even before that", we will be happy to go on.

So, how many people out there (of the student of this course of course) want having a class (before new year) in which we solve selected problems except that of TO-DO's? And, how many prefer to have such a session, but not before the beginning of new year?

TTFN,
--Hossein

P.S. I clarify here that I do not tollerate against any problem occured because a student has not joined the mailing list. So, the whole responsibility of such a problem is to the student oneself -- be it even loss of the whole mark of the course. And, please inform all of your classmates about this.
