(به آدرس‌های ramsin@sharif.edu وraman.ramsin@gmail.com ).

Dear PSE students,

The fourth assignment is a research assignment, and it is an important part of the PSE course. The details are explained in the file attached (which has also been posted on the course webpage).

-   Please send me your topics of choice – as a prioritized list of three topics – by Thursday 12 Tir.

-   Each of the topics is either intended for one student, or a team of two (as indicated by the number in parentheses shown after each topic). Students who intend to work alone are allowed to select a team topic, but they should realize that they will be expected to work harder (you will get extra grade, however).

-   If you’d prefer to work on a topic other than those listed in the attached file, you can include it on your list of selected topics; if the title of your proposed topic is not expressive enough, a proper explanation of the topic should also be provided. Please note that you are expected to conduct a survey and analysis; a research that is limited to just one or two resources (books or papers) is not considered a survey.

-   The topics will be assigned to individuals/teams by Saturday 14 Tir. I will try my best to assign the topics according to your preferences.

-   A research starter package for each of the topics has been made available on the course webpage (here); each package contains several resources that are intended to start you off on your research. Please note that you may not need to use all of these resources; on the other hand, you will definitely need to complement them with other resources: You should study the list of references at the end of each resource for other potential resources.

The TA will soon send you a list of important information and guidelines on conducting the research; please read it thoroughly. The deadline for submitting the report is Saturday 8 Shahrivar.

Best regards
Ramsin

-          Session 10: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YR_lGFp4xFwvu1L2Jcb3e5RAZ5YlsvgV

This session is related to Lecture 3: http://sharif.edu/~ramsin/index_files/pselecture3.pdf.

As you already know, the resources of the PSE course are available on the course-page (on CE). To be more specific, the main resource for Lecture 1 is available at http://ce.sharif.edu/courses/98-99/2/ce787-1/resources/root/References/Coad-DesignPatterns.rar, and the resource for Lectures 2 to 5 is available at http://ce.sharif.edu/courses/98-99/2/ce787-1/resources/root/References/GoF_DesignPatterns.rar.

I will be sending you supplementary material during the next couple of weeks. Narrated PowerPoint files for Lectures 1 to 3 will also be sent; these will answer many of your questions. Unfortunately, nobody knows how long the current situation will go on. The university is bracing itself for a prolonged quarantine period, which may well span the whole semester. Therefore, our classes after Nowruz will probably be held online (via Sharif Courseware). The details will be sent to you in due time.

I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to wish you and your esteemed families a happy Nowruz and a new year filled with hope and well-being.

Dear PSE students,

We will not have our regular classes in Esfand. However, we have been asked by the university to provide our students with the means to continue their studies throughout Esfand. Some professors have chosen to hold their classes via Skype or Sharif Courseware, while others have chosen to provide their students with slides and recorded material.

In my opinion, virtual/online classes are great, but not effective enough. I have therefore decided to provide you with recorded material so that you can keep yourself busy during Esfand; this material will be sent to you in due time. However, we will hold extra sessions in Farvardin and Ordibehesht to make up for the lost sessions. You are strongly advised to attend these sessions, but attendance will not be mandatory.

I’d like to take advantage of this opportunity to wish health and wellbeing for you and your families. If you have elderly people in your families, take very good care of them.

Best regards
Ramsin

Dear PSE students,

Please be informed that our class will not be held today (Saturday 3 Esfand); I am still unwell.
I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Extra sessions will be held to make up for these cancellations.
