Evaluation Strategy
A group of industry specialists and academia professors constitute the scientific committee. In the first phase, they evaluate submitted proposals both for technical feasibility and financial cost. If the proposal is conceptually interesting, technically feasible, and financially tolerable it will be allowed to enter the contest. The only restriction on the design is that it MUST definitely use FPGAs.

At the final phase of the contest, the scientific committee judges the technical papers and implementations of the designs. Judgment will be based on the following criteria:
Item Sub-items Sub-scores Score Penalties and Comments
Design Design Methodology 8 20+10 For Class A Projects: the score will be multiplied in 1.15
Design Partitioning 12
Design Innovation +10 (extra point)
Simulation Functional Simulation 10 15
Timing Simulation 5
Implementation Hardware parts To be announced after technical papers submitted. 40
Software parts
Analog parts
Non-electronic parts
Technical Paper Quality 4 10 Penalty: Two points per day for late submission.
Complete Design Description 4
Proper Writing Style 2
Final Oral Presentation Quality 5 15 Penalty: One point per minute for presentations longer than 20 minutes.

Timing: 20 minutes for presentation + 10 minutes for Q&A

Reasonable Answers 5
Completeness (Covering all aspects of the design) 5

Grand Total:

100+10-penalties

Please note that technical papers are supposed to describe two aspects of your design:

  1. The components and architecture of your design
  2. The details of the design of each component.
