Here goes some researches I did for various courses. I hope you find them useful;)
*Procurement management in reality*
This course was which was offered by Mr. J. Jalalian , as the name implies included an introduction to Information Technology Project Management.
There were some cases and minicases to study as we went through the syllabus. The students were divided to some groups and each session , one or more groups presented a minicase and others or Mr. Jalalian himself asked them some questions. My fellow members in the group were: Mahshid Rahnama, Zeinab Barzegar, Mona Serji and Shekoufeh Khodaverdi.
To tell you briefly about the minicase our group presented : It was about project procurement management. It asked us to play the role of a company which wanted to find and choose among some service providers. We researched in Internet and found 3 ones: Altel, Verizon and Cingular. All three American. These 3 provide voice (for cellular phones), email (such as blackberry) and access services (wireless).

*Model the systems around you with STELLA*
Offered by Ms. Skoorechi. Students were to propose a topic either themselves or choose among the suggested ones, and arrange a presentation about it. My friend, Leila Servati and I chose STELLA. STELLA is a software used for modeling systems and their behavior in defined situations. We used STELLA 5.0 to build models but the latest version is 8 :D as you can see in the site. Our presentation consisted of 3 parts: in the 1st part, I introduced system thinking concepts and the modeling process. In the 2nd part, my friend introduced the graphical environment of STELLA. And finally as the last part, I built a model using STELLA and showed the class what interesting results could be obtained via modeling.
Unfortunately I have n 't got my friend 's slides .But you will find very good tutorial on its site. Mine is here ;) Also I have built 2 models : fox/rabbit which is a sample of the well-known prey/predator example . And population :)
*EToys : success or failure?*
At first it sounds like a boring course and you may even think that all you have to do is to memorize and memorize and memorize! But as you get more familiar, especially after you do some research yourself, you begin to like it little by little. Then you get to realize the challenging nature of EC. EC taught me to watch more carefully and think up ideas freely.
As for a mid-term course project, we were supposed to select an EC company, find information about it, decide whether it was a failure or success and grab the reasons. My friend , Azadeh Mozaffari and I , chose eToys.com, an online toys retailer which has lived three different eras and has gone through many different ups and downs until it finally settled to eToys Direct Inc in 2004:
1997-1999 : success and prosperity
1999-2001 : failure
2001-2004 : acquired by KBToys
2004-now : an experienced company doing well
We read many articles about it and had worked a lot on it. You may wish to download the slides here. Note that in order to decrease the download time of it , I have put the plain version for you. Of course, there were some pictures and a beautiful template, too :D.
*Social Engineering : The art and science of getting people to comply to your wishes*
For the final project , we chose Social Engineering as our topic to work on. Do you know what it means? Of course you do, at least in a basic sense. It would be fun to read more about it here. To be honest, you may notice some redundancy in the doc you download because we had very little time to prepare it and even less time to merge and reformat our works. (Again I did this one with Azadeh Mozaffari). Here is my part alone.
*Bandwidth : a new concept or a known one?!*
As a part of Network Course we studied about the physical layer. Since we went through it almost briefly and hurriedly, many questions rose in my mind so I did some research and prepared a document which answered some of these questions , again briefly :D Then I sent it to the course mailing list. Here is a copy of it.
*I want my portal ready!*
In this course , offered by Mr. Abtahi , we learned about applications in general, focusing on web applications as an important family of modern applications.
Also, we were required to do a research on a related topic. I chose Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. You may download my slides in two versions : Farsi , English (not ready yet) ;)
My slides contain :
Part A- definitions and basic concepts
Part B- SharePoint Portal Server 2003
